There are 2 kinds of avocado sold in Costcos in Bay Area, CA - underripe or overripe. Always buy underripe and put them in a paper bag in a dark place. It usually takes 2-4 days to ripe. Previously I could get a pack of avocados that would never ripe, but the issue seems resolved last year or so.
